Bytes, KB, MB, GB, TB — SI & binary.

Quick conversions

Value in every unit

This free data storage converter converts digital storage between bits, bytes, kilobytes, megabytes, gigabytes, terabytes, petabytes and exabytes — in both SI decimal (1000-based) and IEC binary (1024-based) units — so you can see the difference that marketing and operating systems create. It also covers network bit units (Kbit, Mbit, Gbit, Tbit) for bandwidth math.

Enter a value and pick a unit to convert two ways at once, or read the full table below to see the same value expressed in every unit simultaneously. Use the quick-conversion presets for the common cases, adjust decimal places for precision, toggle thousands separators, and copy any result to your clipboard.

SI vs binary: disk manufacturers advertise capacity in decimal units where 1 GB = 1,000,000,000 bytes, while operating systems like Windows report in binary units where 1 GiB = 1,073,741,824 bytes but often label it "GB". That is why a "1 TB" drive shows as roughly 931 GB. This converter keeps the two families clearly separated so you always know which one you are looking at.
