Useful for maps, GIS, surveying, geocaching, aviation and marine navigation. UTM and MGRS use the WGS84 ellipsoid and are accurate to about a metre across the standard 80°S–84°N band; polar regions fall back to a clear "N/A" note rather than a wrong grid reference.
